Mine Operation Deputy Director


Rafael is Mining Engineer in the ‘Universidad Politécnica de Madrid’, with experience in geotechnical, hydrological, hydrogeological and environmental services. He postgraduate at the University of Salamanca (Hydrogeology) and the University of Zaragoza (Expert on River Engineering) in addition to various courses and studies related to environmental management and project management. He has worked as project engineer in mine design and Tailings Management Facilities design and as field engineer in geotechnical investigations for a mining international consultancy company. He has worked in Spain, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Algeria, South Africa, East Africa and South America in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in various mining, industrial and environmental projects. In the present, he is working as Mine Operation Deputy Directo at Minera Los Frailes. Minera Los Frailes is a Grupo México with participation of the local MAGTEL company, based in Spain, on charge of the Aznalcóllar mine site project since 2015. Aznalcóllar project is a brownfield, stopped in 2001, whose operation has been promoted by local authorities in order to transfer the environmental control, monitoring, supervision, reclamation and restoration of the old mining complex to the mine operator company.
